Help paying a vet bill

Volunteer nonprofit that pays vets directly for cats' and dogs' care, including basic care (vaccines, dental, medication, spay/neuter), serious illness (heart disease, cancer), urgent injuries or illness, and medically needed euthanasia, plus help with pet food; apply online before treatment. Owners must agree to spay/neuter if the pet is not already fixed, and help depends on available funds (no payment for care already done).

Programs like this usually have rules about income, location, the kind of care covered and how much they can pay. Many pay the veterinarian directly. Read the requirements before applying, and have your estimate and proof of income ready.

If cost is the barrier, Paying for Care compares grants, payment plans and fundraising, with a checklist of what to have ready.
