Brand Spotlight: Covina Auto Body, Where Repeat Business Goes Both Ways

Sean Arenas

Covina Auto Body has been part of Covina since 1985. It is family-run, I-CAR Gold Class certified, and built around collision repair, insurance coordination, and the kind of repeat-customer relationships that are hard to fake.

Minty Tees has its own long-running relationship with the shop, and that is why this is more than a directory profile for us.

A Relationship That Started With Raffi

About five years ago, Raffi came to me for shirts. We hit it off right away, and he has been coming back consistently ever since.

Most of the Covina Auto Body shirts I print use a small front logo with a larger back print. Sometimes they order front-only shirts, but the front-and-back version is the one most people would recognize as their everyday shop uniform.

Every one of those shirts has been printed on the Lane Seven LS15000 Deluxe Tee. It is a midweight combed-cotton shirt designed to hold its shape and get softer over time, which is one of the reasons I like it for actual workwear.

If you want a real-world example of what a Minty Tees shirt looks like after being worn, washed, and treated like a uniform instead of a special-event shirt, Covina Auto Body is one of the best examples I can point to. These shirts are not sitting in drawers. They get used.

You can see the actual front-and-back project in the Covina Auto Body Past Work Gallery.

The Referral That Became a Better Test Than a Referral

A few years into that relationship, my girlfriend needed body work on her car, so I referred her to Covina Auto Body.

Then she forgot to tell them I had referred her.

That accidentally made the experience more meaningful.

They were already treating her extremely well before Raffi had any idea there was a connection to me. She was not getting “friend of Sean” treatment. She was getting their normal customer treatment.

Later, when she finally mentioned that I had sent her, Raffi told her he liked working with me and the conversation warmed up even more. But by then there was nowhere left for the service to improve. She had already been treated like a preferred customer without anyone knowing she was a referral.

That is a much stronger endorsement than anything I could have arranged intentionally.

What the Public Side of the Business Says

Covina Auto Body’s own site says the shop has served Covina since 1985 and remains family-owned. It is I-CAR Gold Class certified and handles collision repair, paint and refinishing, frame and unibody repair, bumper repair, towing, rentals, and insurance claims.

The shop says it has completed more than 5,000 repairs and backs its repair work with a lifetime warranty for as long as the customer owns the vehicle.

Insurance coordination is also a major part of the business. Covina Auto Body works directly with major carriers, handles claim communication, and coordinates towing and rental arrangements as part of the repair process.

Repeat Business Goes Both Ways

What I like about this relationship is that it works in both directions.

Raffi has trusted Minty Tees with Covina Auto Body’s shirts for years. When someone close to me needed collision work, I trusted Covina Auto Body with the car.

Neither relationship exists because of a marketing arrangement. They exist because somebody did good work, the other person came back, and that kept happening.

That is exactly the kind of business relationship the Minty Brand Ecosystem is supposed to preserve: not just a name and an address, but the history of why one local business keeps choosing another.
