For Bands and Musicians: Connect Live Shows to the Places You Play

A band's public shows, venues and official links can be easier to navigate when each event connects the act and the location. Here's how to contribute.

Minty Press guide for bands and musicians connecting live shows with venues

A band can spend hours promoting a show and still hear from somebody the next day: “I had no idea you were playing there.” Social posts move quickly, venue calendars use different formats, and one poster rarely answers every question a prospective guest has.

Rather than invent another place a musician must constantly market, the Minty Brand Ecosystem links the public facts that already exist: the performer, the physical venue and the date of the performance.

A show is a connection, not just a date

The band's Brand page can point to official music, website and social destinations. A Place page identifies the venue and its location. The Event connects both to a performance date, time and any other participating acts. Somebody who discovers the venue can learn who's on the bill; somebody who discovers the band can find where to go.

That model also helps a performer playing different cities. Instead of treating a tour as a single address, each public show can point to its own correct location and date.

What should a show listing include?

  • Your band or artist name and preferred official link, along with approved public artwork or a performer photo.
  • The venue's actual name and street location, especially where businesses have multiple branches.
  • The calendar date, doors time or performance start time as clearly labeled, and a time zone where needed.
  • Other bands or featured performers, the event organizer, age restrictions if officially announced, and an official ticket or RSVP link if one exists.
  • A verifiable source such as the venue calendar, ticket page or authorized event announcement.

Minty does not sell the tickets, take bookings, or act as a band's representative by virtue of listing a show. A visitor should be sent onward to the people actually running the event.

More useful than a disconnected event flyer

A flyer is excellent visual promotion, but its text can go stale or be hard to search. The important public facts can also live as structured event information. When connected properly, it becomes possible to go from a public Brand profile to an Event, then to the venue and other performers involved.

Visitors can search local events without knowing your act's name first. They can also browse public Brand listings and follow official links for details.

And if we have new music or a story to tell?

Minty Press is the site's separate editorial publication for selected creator stories, music, community news and guides. A directory listing does not automatically generate a feature, but relevant announcements and stories are welcome for consideration. That's a different purpose from maintaining a gig's date and venue.

Where merchandise fits, and where it doesn't

Band merchandise can be discussed independently through Minty's optional services for musicians. Public gig listings are free, whether or not a band sells merchandise or ever becomes a printing customer.

Send details without signing up for a sales program

The listing and update form accepts public listings, corrections and event flyers. Directory listings are free and no Brand account or purchase is required to supply updates. Inclusion does not mean Minty Tees represents, books, sponsors or sells tickets for anyone mentioned. Custom apparel and merchandise, if desired, are entirely separate and opt-in.
